Wie zijn wij?

Mijn naam is Carien Scheltinga en ik vertegenwoordig Stichting IC Progress, een initiatief van een team zorgprofessionals uit het Frisius Medisch Centrum (voorheen MCL) in Leeuwarden. Our team consists of an intensivist, an intensive care nurse/circulation practitioner and a medical technician. Together, we share Western knowledge in the field of acute and intensive care – always tailored to the local reality of Tanzanian hospitals.

Ten years of collaboration with KCMC

We are now preparing for our tenth visit to KCMC. Tijdens deze missies nemen we medische apparatuur mee die past bij de behoeften ter plaatse. This year, our contribution consists of 20 defibrillators and 30 AEDs, fully configured in English. We combine this delivery with targeted training courses for hospital staff.

We will provide BLS and AED training in the nursing wards. In addition, we provide ALS training courses on the use of defibrillators.

Collaboration with other Dutch teams

Via Salah Said, we learned that another Dutch team may be present at KCMC in November. That offers opportunities. By joining forces, we can draw up a shared training schedule and action plan. This gives KCMC sufficient time to inform departments and make optimal use of our presence.

Everyone’s expertise to its full advantage

Collaboration enables us to deploy our people in a targeted manner: the intensivist in the intensive care unit, the medical technician in equipment maintenance and installation, and the nurse on the work floor. We believe this will have the greatest impact.
