During the ZGT charity gala 2025, a total of €57,351 was raised for the charity Hart voor Tanzania (Heart for Tanzania). The proceeds will go towards the construction of a specialised heart clinic in the African country, an initiative of the ZGT Overzee foundation.
One step closer to a life mission
For Salah Said, former cardiologist at ZGT and driving force behind the foundation, his dream is getting closer and closer. Together with the junior doctors and interns who organised the gala, he has been working for years to make high-quality cardiac care accessible in Tanzania. ‘If everything continues to go according to plan, we will open the clinic in June 2026,’ Said says proudly.
The project is supported by several organisations. In addition to ZGT Overzee, the American Foundation for Cardiovascular Care in Africa and the Dutch foundation Wilde Ganzen are also making significant financial contributions.

International cooperation for sustainable impact
The construction of the clinic is progressing well. ‘We are even two months ahead of schedule,’ Said reports. Meanwhile, a team of Tanzanian healthcare professionals is being trained in India. After their return, they will receive ongoing support from specialists in the Netherlands.
